if the cold start injector was stuck, it would want to keek the AAV open. The intake air pressure sensor is another possibility.

The weird thing about your '72 is that is doesn't appear to be running rich. Ever pull the plugs?

BTW, the location of the coolant sensor/AAV is the delete plate I'm refering to... sorry, been a while since i took it apart.
