"Some of the ITB guys I've spoken to here run 4.80-5.12 gears and 8,000rpm.
I hope they don't show up in my neck of the woods with an 8000 rpm B20. If I were to spot an ITB 140 shifting at 8 grand (and trust me... I'll know it when I hear it), there would be a protest written in a heartbeat. :)
I hear you on the tires, for sure. I've had exactly one set of "new" race tires in my life; I bought a set of R3S05 Hoosiers from 'discontinued' stock after the R6's came out. (They are still the newest set of tires I own, from a heat cycle standpoint!) While still relatively new (4 cycles), we used them to set the new ITB lap record at Hallett last spring.
