Since 1996 I have bought four and sold three Amazons and finally buying the last one that I will own, two years ago. I can say that I have experience in this. One of the three that I sold was a 66 2 door auto, a real pig, slow as a snail and did take me a lot of time to sell it. The other two sold in less than a month but were 4 speeds and in normal shape. Did not get one penny ,more than $2,200 for the best one.
The auto went for 1,700 and was in good shape and just a little rust showing at the bottom where the front fender meets the door.

I was very lucky and picked up a 65 two door that belonged to the owner of the local Chevrolet dealership and he had it in his car collection since 1970. Why was I lucky? Well, this old guy retires and moves to the mountains of N.Carolina and his second wife and daughter (from the first marriage) were taking care of liquidating his car collection. He had Bentleys, Corvettes, Camaros, a couple of Italian exotics and some Healeys and MGA's and MGTC and MGTF. The last car was the Volvo 122s that had the brakes frozen for lack of use, these two sent it to the dealership and the mechanics put in new rotors, brake pump and shoes(spent like 500 bucks), once that was done all of a sudden the red charging light comes on, the mechanics put in a new Bosch generator plus a voltage regulator and new battery, the lights keeps on coming on. The used car sales manager calls me because I'm the only guy in town driving around in these monsters and asks me if I'm interested?? I go and see the car and find a unmolested time capsule car with only 85,000 miles with original everything , the salesman tells me the story of the two ladies and that the mechanics (these new computer educated guys that do not understand old cars anymore)advised that the car had a short somewhere and needded a complete new wire instalation at a cost of around $2,000, They were asking $5000 for the car,I make a modest low ball offer $1800 as is, waiting for a counter offer and was ready to pay up to $3500. Well she calls back and accepts the offer. Right there I pay and they do the paperwork, in front of the salesman I open the hood , take out the small 25 amp fuse,clean the edges on my bluejean and put it back and the light goes out and charges great!! He couldnt beleive it!! I am very proud of this car and this year am going to put AC (Ialready have the important parts). gv
