I have a Bentley manual but I am still learning how to read wiring diagrams - electrical is probably my weakest skill when it comes to cars... I don't have the green book for my 85 donor car.

Based on the posts above I'm thinking the round connector is actually for the wagon's rear wiper controls, especially if they are going into the cruise control stalk.
