Car stalled out? alternator problem? 200 1989

Multi Meter needs to be on DC. With an OVER 12V setting. The car should read about 12.5V if it's not running. should shoot up over 13V when car is running.

Blue wire might look black way down low on the Alternator ..thick wire screwed to the frame below it. Usually when the battery gets low enough to cause the injectors to run...shitty, you gas gauge should be reading Lower then it actually is too.

If that's the original Alternator with original Brushes...it's probably time for new brushes.
Dopey question but is your alternator belts tight?

Timing Belt.. no, the car should crank fine if it jumped a tooth or two. Your Volvo is NOT and intereference engine. I know, you saw dollar signs running around in your head.
