I just did these on my 88 240 this summer; the lines are flexible enough to get the caliper off of the rotor, then hang it there with a piece of wire tied to the spring until you finish. I was also a bit leery about kinking the lines, but there is enough material to allow them to be safely moved out of the way for this job. The rest is a piece of cake.
