Help with engine ID 200 1988

The quickest way to tell, unless it has been painted, is that the B23 has a silver valve cover and the B230 has a black one with a raised oil filler cap. The accessory (alternator and such) brackets on the B230 have the bolt driven adjusters and the B23 has the pull it snug and tighten it type. The crank pulley on the B23 has the center bolt surrounded by 4 10mm bolts and 2 10mm nuts, and is 2 piece as Ken C stated. The harmonic balancer on the B230 just has one large center bolt. The starter bolts on the B23 have nuts on them while the B230 bolts just thread into the starter head. This may have been changed as well as the accessory brackets though.
