The only time I've had an issue with anything going wrong as a result of too great a load, it wasn't the fuses that popped: it was the bulbs they were intended to protect. Amps were in line; volts were too high. Amps, I'm told, blow fuses while volts, I've learned, blow bulbs. Which is really too bad, because fuses are cheap and bulbs really are not.
