it's the coil? 444-544 1956

When the car broke down, it was next to a shop, so I let them check it out. They're telling me it's a bad coil (didn't know it would go out so quickly).
I have a new one, but I don't have a new bracket. (are they available?)
Also, which is better, cutting the armored cable or getting the IPD diode kit?
