Potentially dangerous hack around an ECU problem 700 1990

I can't argue with that Bob, but must have subconsciously passed on it because I don't think that failure has ever been posted here.

If I still had a 240 and had this problem, I'd be tempted to "hack" in a K-jet Fuel relay as a "we have ignition" sensor and run the 86-2 ground thru it to ground. It would be relatively cheap and just as safe.
