stuck in gear? 120-130

i've got a conundrum. i parked my 122, nothing out of the ordinary. a few minutes later, i went to start it up, and tried to move the shifter into neutral. no go. if i depressed the clutch, the engine would start up, and if i dropped it, the car would go forward, but with the clutch in, i still couldn't free the shifter lever, which looks to be in the 1 or 3 position. the car's a 4-speed by the way.

i was able to limp home, but the weird thing is, even though the shifter looks to be in the 1 or 3 position, the transmission seems to be in 2nd gear. after parking back at home, it's the same deal. shifter's still stuck and the car seems to be in second gear. is there any way of popping it out or some such?

thanks a mil for any suggestions.
