power steering rack alignment - solution 200 1993

Thanks Goatman and Dan - that's what I concluded last night after laying under there and trying a few things. I rotated the shaft on the rack so the flat will line up and started fitting everything back together. It looks like there will be enough threads on the tierods to center everything up. One thing I discovered was that the 4 holes for the 2 u bolts to hold the rack down line up pretty well, but the hole for the plastic alignment pin is not even close. It's like on the wrong side of the 2 ubolt holes so I just took out that pin. Do I really need that? Once I torque down the ubolts I can't see that rack moving and really how much can a plastic pin add?
