sounds like a steering rack binding, If you can put it on some jack stands then you will be able to determine what the problem is. Turn the wheels by hand to isolate the binding part disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
turn thatwheel again, if it is still tight then check the ball joint and strut bearing, if not check the other side, if it is tight then take that tie rod end off and check. this part is VERY IMPROTANT if your car has a drivers air bag. you must secure the steering wheel before removing the steering shaft and when it is reinstalled the steering rack must be in the same place also. I turn the wheel all the way in one direction and lock the wheel then when I remove the shaft I check that the rack did not turn back and will not turn any further. Thereby assuring that the steering will be reinstalled in the same manner. The reason for this is a part called a clock spring, it is only made to turn so far in either direction. damage to this part is the most common cause of air bag lights. It's not a real hard job the important part is attention to detail.
