Hello,

There is a starting cylinder head thickness measured from the top of the head bolt holes to the bottom of the head, but I am not at work so I can not give you the specification until tomorrow.

I am pretty sure that only 1975 cylinder heads got "flame hardened" exhaust seats and the hardening is only a few thousands thick and is usually removed with the 1st valve job.

We always recommend the installation of hardened seats for the exhaust valves on ALL of customers pushrod Volvo engines when the head is removed if they have not already been converted.

FYI, if you need to use the D-jet fuel injection system that came on 1970-1973 USA delivery Volvos, a 1974 and 1975 cylinder head will not work as they lack a couple of holes for the water temperature sensor and the AAV that were not used with the 1974-1975 K-jet(CIS) fuel injection system.
