Hi all, I have a 1991 240 Wagon and I noticed the A/C wasn't cooling as well when at a stop. As I suspected, the auxiliary electric fan is not coming on. I figured no big deal, it's probably the relay. Checked the relay out and it is getting power when the A/C is switched on. And it is sending power to the dryer (don't know why it's supposed to do that?) as the wiring schematic says it should. However the relay would not close.
So... I went to the dealer and paid $65 for a new relay and it STILL does not come on. The fan does work, as I ran a jumper between the two wires going to the thermostatic switch on the radiator, and I jumped the relay as well and the fan does indeed come on. So.... any ideas as to why the fan won't come on?
Also, is the electric fan supposed to come on anytime the A/C is on? I seem to remember it always being on when I had the A/C working. Any help would be much appreciated... : )
