Nice job. BTW I work at a large well known American "Manufacturer" and you could not be more right about making stuff work just past the warranty expiration. You can thank "lean manufacturing" for that. We do "cost downs" on parts that last too long. That is, we search for a cheaper part to replace that part that was "too robust". Sometimes it works and we save $$ and no ones the wiser. Other times that cheaper part causes me(and customers) an ass ache. Between "lean manufacturing" and new methods of inventory control....its a tough time to be a DIY'er.
