R&R OD trans 140-160 1971

Thanks Derek. Have been using metric with success. Both sides are 14mm on the u joint. Soaked all four with WD40. Put a closed end over the nut side with a one inch pipe as lever planted on the ground. Put another closed end on the bolt end, and used a larger closed end through the open ended wrench and then was able to slowly pull my weight against the nut. Didn't take my weight off the ground but eventually it eased.
Got the unit within two knuckles today but the tranny came out of gear while shifting it around, so couldn't turn the shaft to get it in.
There is a small hole in the shaft right at the base, so found a long skinny screwdriver back at my shed (did I mention I am doing this on a friend's driveway as my place doesn't have any flat spots?). Should be able to complete the install tomorrow.
Will be getting new bolts and nuts for both ends of the shaft.
