I have a very annoying problem with my gearbox M41, I will therefore post this topic in different chapters, hoping some of you can help me.
I disassembled my gearbox due to excessive oil leak between the box od the overdrive to change all the sealings. To do so, I had to remove the mainshaft and the layshaft, which is a standard procedure and no further problem. All the paperjoints an sealrings were changed and the whole thing reassembled. Then things went wrong: 3rd and 4th gear could not be engaged under any circumstance.
I took everything apart again but could not trace any fault. Then I checked the synchronization device for these gears and found, that I could not move them by pressing by hand. Sometimes I can almost move it but in most cases the ring will not move. The device for 1st and 2nd gear is free and will move by pressing with the thumb only.
I have changed the synchronizing hub, all locating keys, the clamping rings and the synchronizing cones without any positive result. I have no idea what can go wrong with the reassembly and hope for your ideas, hints.
