You should try it that way and let us know how it works out. Otherwise, I'd have to try it to tell you it is possible. Sounds like a good idea, so your wrists would be working at a better angle and you could sit in the chair.
My suggestion follows the others: Find a short 3/16" flat-blade screwdriver. Push the electrical plug off of the switch. Get a dental mirror so you can see where the two screws are and what it should feel like when you go back in blind with the screwdriver. You're right, the notes I have do not offer any help to access the switch, but you can get an idea from them what the pieces look like.
