Re: Engine mounts 700 87

Dan,

Got me a '87 745T with Turbo+ and M46 tranny. Lots of fun to drive!

The engine mounts are in fact the hydraulic type. You can tell since they do not look like over grown hockey pucks. Instead they kind of look like squashed bocci balls. As a point of reference, my car has a August '86 manufacturing date. So if there were any '87s that had the solid mounts, they must have been very early in the model year.

Got my new mounts from my local parts guy at a cost of $75 each, and they were "made" by Bilstien. The Volvo dealer gave me a quote once of about $160 each! I suspect the Bilstien part is the same as the Volvo part. They look the same to me. Could be wronge, bout I doubt Volvo actually made this part.

From what you have described, it sounds like you mounts are even worse than mine. At least my fan is not hitting the shroud. Put a set in my wife's '88 745T a couple years ago. What a difference in noise. Bought the mounts for my car last spring. Maybe this spring I will actually get around to putting them in.

Have fun,
