Your turbo will make a loud SQUUUUEEEEELLL when it goes bad. You can check the turbo by removing the rubber hose going to the intercooler. You can access the propeller for the turbine this way. Spin the prop and see if it scrapes on the sides. Pull it in and out and side to side. This will tell you if the turbo is bad. It shouldn't move much, other than spin. If it doesn't scrape then it is probably functioning fine.
