If the tach is dying concurrently with engine miss or stall then you likely have (in this order) 1) faulty crankshaft speed sensor (immediately behind upper bock reading fly wheel through hole in "bell housing" part of block.
2) power stage unit adjacent to battery, gray/black bolted to inner fender panel. This unit gets commands from ignition computer (after it gets signals from crank sensor to know when to fire coil) at low wattage and ampliifies them to ignition coil wattage requirements.
Of course, faulty connections at either of these units or their applicable control unit connections would be first things to be verified before component replacement.
