I had W creaking clutch on my 240 and it started getting pretty stiff to operate. I had a new clutch cable installed (before my DIY days) and all was well. I couldn't get any lubricant to where it would help. The exhaust sound underneath the car may be a loose heat shield as someone has said. I had two on my 245 and stopped the rattle with hose clamps where the shield was loose.
