I just picked up an instrument cluster for my kid's 86 244 at the salvage yard. The major problem with his is that the odometer doesn't work, probably due to a stripped gear from when I reset the trip ododmeter while the car was in motion. At least that's what I was told on this forum.
Here's the small problem. Kid's car has about 142K miles. Replacement odometer has about 210K miles. Is there an easy way to reset the new odometer to the car's actual mileage? If not, then I'll file appropriate paperwork with the DMV to document the discrepancy.
Who knows, maybe I'll even end up with a working clock out of the deal.
Thanks in advance
