tranny question on 1984 240

I am thinking of buying a 1984 244 with an automatic tranny, I have never owned a Volvo with an Automatic. The car has 125000 miles on it and every thing looks pretty clean underneath the car. How good are these trannys and are the overdrive units the same units placed on the manual trannys.
