Another way you can eek out a few more starts is to change the starter and then get into the ritual of stalling the car when it comes time to shut it off. One foot on the brake and one on the clutch, release clutch carefully. In doing this, you have a much better chance of not stopping the engine at those two spots. I just when through this whole drama, I first noticed the problem about two years ago. It was not happening very often, but slowly the frequency increased until I bit the bullet, and changed out the flywheel about a month ago. The flywheel was worn exactly as described. I also changed the starter at the same time and discovered that although there is only one starter listed (from the Jobbers) there are two possible starters (both Bosch) you can end up with. One has a slightly longer snout and engages more of the starter gear with the flywheel. I didn't change the main seal at the time, but I wish I had. The only things that are tricky/pain in the arse are the two top bolts and the manouvering used to get the trans in and out. Rotating the trans 90' counterclockwise helps it clear the tight spots. Have a friend handy, he can work the floor jack while you jocky it into position. You will feel alot better about your car once you take care of the problem. Good luck.
