After all the discussion, just what is a person gaining from using Dexcool?? What is wrong with conventional Prestone or Peak and changing it yearly? Seems to me by using the newer coolant we are only playing with a problem to be. Perhaps this stuff is more subject to the electrolytic action mentioned in another post. I do not see changing coolant at this point of discussion. All I remember is GM has been host to a whole bunch of wonderful things such as the first aluminum V8's in F-85 Olds, flex drive lines with rear tranys in Pontiacs, Covair engines designed to oil the road, more aluminum engines in the Pinto competitor, lousy auto transmissins in more Olds and the tranys in multiple surburbans, power steering racks that couldn't make 60K on FWD Olds etc, and even the highly touted Iron Duke just plain splitting.
If it is something new from GM, it may be good, but wait a few years before trying it.
