You said that before the no-start situation occured, you had to leave the ignition in the "on" position for over 2 minutes to start the vehicle. This sounds like a fuel delivery problem to me. In other words, the system is not maintaining fuel pressure and putting the key in the "on" position runs the fuel pump, which eventually builds up enough pressure to start the motor.
