Dear DEEP
Drive it!
Every set of rings and cylinder walls reach a different wear-point equlibrium and your 10-12% cyl. differences are not a problem. Point is, stablilty of the pressure profile. If you are concerned about this, drive it 9000K [three oil changes] and repeat the test, with a fresh oil change.
Yea, oil in cylinder will confirm what you suspect and should be tried when you want to convince yourself to do the rebuild. But as a general test isn't worth the smoke. Next time just spray in a little wd-40, it's aersol will do the job and burn off faster.
I lived in Stockholm for three years 95-98 and the mileage Ώmil=10Km] that the B230F/FT taxi's have over-there would make your head spin. We worry about a rebuild at 100-200K and they are in the 300-400K range when they do the work.
Remember, That guy with the P-1800-S that has two million miles, did his only rebuild at 680,000. And that was an old design engine.
Of course SWE-taxi drivers [bread&butter] and this 2-Mill guy, really know how to care of the engines. A used-engine's greatest enemy was the former-idiot behind the wheel.
My choice; Castrol 20-50W every 3000K, new filter HastingsLH490/orVolvo, Coolant every-other year, no exceptions.
85 744T B230FT 240K 28mpg, uses no oil,
87 245 B230F 244K 24mpg, no oil,
94 945T B230FT 70K 23mpg, makes it's own oil. Just kidding.
