Hi Jenn,

To correct the positioning of the arm you will most likely need to remove the internal trim for the tailgate.

Not a difficult job once you know how. For instructions type 'tailgate trim removal' in 'search' at the bottom of this page. Once the trim is off the necessary repair will be obvious. From memory it requires the undoing of one nut and adjustment of one of the arms on the internal mechanism.

I would think the repair shop has the responsibility.
