More charging system madness 140-160 1973

Mark,
Inspired by your post, I just went to NAPA and picked one up. It looks like I would have to grind a lot more than 3/32" off to get it to match to an old SEV model that I have kicking around. I know that there is a spacer in the car between the alternator and the block. Did you omit this when installing the GM unit?

It also seems that boring the hole to 1/2" wouldn't leave much metal left.

I'd love to make this work, I just want to be absolutely sure...
