Charging System 700 1987

I own an 87 740 Turbo. Had to replace alternator, ground wire, then battery. Alternator still not charging, but if you remove the negative battery cable it charges like a champ. Alt checked out at 14 amps battery checks out at 12.7v.

Where do I find the problem?
