Replacing pre-pump 200 1989

To remove the pre-pump, I used an inexpensive adjustable plumber's spanner. Two prongs of the spanner adjusted to fit in the cap, a screw driver or rod to apply leverage, and voila! Easy to test the pump for sure, once out of the car. Replace screen etc. Good luck...
