Hey I'm learning how to be skeptical and still come off with a civil tongue. Hot damn something must be working.
Yes, I realize not everyone wants the sound. I've got mixed feelings on that. I've got a few exhaust leaks, and from all appearances the PO removed the muffler so I've got lots of turbo whizzing (so far none of it sounds metal-on-metal bad). It's neat for a while.
I've gotta point out that these Volvo engines are known for achieving high mileage.. usually with the stock air filters. If nothing else, that just goes to show the stock filter does filter well enough.
Re the manifold conversion, no it's not an EFI swap as well. But compare the manifold design of your B21FT to that of the B23/B230 (or even the B21F!). The B21FT has a nasty intake designed to accomodate the pre-intercooled cars. Dave Shannon (who posts occasionally) has done this conversion on his 240 Turbo... he's got a link to it on his web site. http://www.volvo2.homestead.com/
At the very least for EFI you'll need the electronics and some new injectors. If it were my money, I'd go for something customizable like the MegaSquirt stuff. For the money, the LH-Jetronic just doesn't give you much. I've got zero EFI experience here tho.. for me it's one of those "one of these days" pet projects. I could probably pull a few educated guesses and URLs out of an orafice if you wanted... I'm sure there are other brickboarders who would know more (might wanna post a new thread with a more appropriate subject).
