It's 15 degrees outside and the car starts up with a bit of hesitation. I can give it a little gas and okay it will idle a little low, but it doesn't stall. Then If I drive, turn the car off and turn it back on it will generally stall unless I give it gas. If I don't, and it stalls, when I try to turn it on again it goes errerrerrerrrr, you know it cranks fast but wont fully start without me giving it some gas. This all seems rather lousy. It started a week ago when I had forgotten to fill up the tank until it was in the reserve, so I'm hoping there's just some lousy gas going through the system, but shouldn't that have passed by now?
My mechanic told me a few months ago that the idle control valve was shot, but the car starts fine, so I figured, forget it. Is that coming back to haunt me? I also wonder if I might have a small vacuum leak. What a pain. Does the cold weather have anything to do with this? Thanks in advance.
