It would be good to know the difference. The Porsche distributor rotates clockwise and the Volvo counterclockwise. I guess the Pertronix doesn't care because the car runs fine. Also IPD lists the 1844 Pertronix number for the
1969 model year only '003' distributor. It surprised me after installing it
then finding out that it wasn't the correct unit for the car. The car runs
very well with it. Try using my relay suggestion. It provides the highest voltage
for system operation.
