Alternator light question Explained, plus 200

Thanks. You explained it so clearly. I've never been real good on electrical systems and feel a little more solid now re the points you discussed.

Your post also reminds me to add an item to the list of regrettable engineering decisions on the 240: the "alt" light.

It must be possible to set up an idiot light that does what it should do, which is to tell you that your alternator has quit alternating. But from my experience, on the 240 all it does is announce that your battery has been powering the car for the last 50 miles and it's about to quit RIGHT NOW!

Hmmmm. May I have the envelope please...

1. Alt light
2. Uncleanable cowl vent
3. biodegradable wiring harness
4. Blower fan/console layout
5. Plastic headlights on 86-93

Still, considering the complexity of a car, that's a pretty short list.
