I don't know about longevity, but I recently replaced the front left corner light on my car. Now that the front-left is brand spankin new, it makes the front-right look like crap (even though it is not broken, chipped, etc). In the future I will probably replace them in pairs... too bad they are so darn expensive ($50 for a junky little plastic piece of crap)
