In addition to Rob's comments, I recommend that everyone driving a pre-92 Volvo deoxidize and protect their engine electrical connectors when they disconnect a connector. Buy some "DeOxIt" spray, which removes electrical corrosion, and some silicone dielectric grease, and use these to keep things running. Your harness, though, may be on its last legs.
