Hello Aiden,
Ron and The Walrus are correct about the calipers. If you split
them open they may never seal or hold pressure again. If there is
any rust or stubbern corrosion you may need to separate them in
order to hone and clean them.
In response to the rear shoes being cracked and broken, it is a
common problem for all vehicles. Normally its due to age, overheating,
rust/corrosion, or faulty parts. No need to worry, I suggest replacing
all the brake components; shoes, cylinders, and spring kit(the old
springs get weak, new ones will ensure the shoes will drawback into
the proper position and not drag.)
REMEMBER WE NEED STOP TO GO!! I hope it goes well I'll do mine
when and if I get my drums off. Stupid rusted stuck drums!!!
