Reverse lens missing -- most durable fix? 200

I've done the same, on many cars. The lens is under $5 aftermarket (FCP Groton) and I use "invisible" tape, that seems to leave no residue on paint. CLear silicone seems to be a great product for this. Certainly it's lasted for years on some cars. That's at least as good as VOlvo's lens glue.
No clue why these things can't be made to stay put from the factory.
For the few bucks it costs, just glue it in and don't worry about it.
