must I replace my rack (steering)? 200

Ricardo...Save Yourself!...RUN, DO NOT WALK..AWAY FROM THAT SHOP! You probably do need a steering rack, but rebuilt units cost around $250 and can be installed for another $200, or about half what you're being quoted. You can also do it yourself with just basic skills, but I understand you may not have a place to work.

A short-term ALTERNATIVE would be to buy some 'Lucas' Power Steering Rack 'glue', which is very thick and nourishes the seals...it's available at most parts shops...Autozone, NAPA, etc, and has saved one rack of mine from replacement (stopped leaking) for over 2 years...just add a little at a time...too much might bog down your steering response...It will almost certainly 'buy' you some time to decide what to do...let us know the 'Rest of the story' Please...Good Luck...Dee Jay
