How do you know that the sensor plate remains down when cranking?

If you have access to the Bosch pressure gauge kit, which includes a selection valve and hoses with the right banjo fittings, then I'd measure the pressure.

It's not an easy job, but you really need to know which way to head with your diagnostics and troubleshooting.
