Headliner kit 700

Hey Mark,
I just want to add my 2cent: You need to remove the board, with headliner attached, from the car. I removed mine and took it into the house to work on.
That way I could continue using the car, and not be rushed. Worked on it on the kitchen table.

Its not rocket science. Take your time. There are plenty of places to get the material to do it. some buy kits. some just find a place and buy the material.
You need a good glue. There are many of those on the market. Take your pick.

Getting the whole thing out of the car is the most challenging part. Removing the trim etc is easy enough.

The book says to remove it through the front passenger door. I found that to be all but impossible. But others report having done it. I ended up taking mine out the rear driver side door. I had all seats removed from the car, and I still broke(but remained attached to the board) the thing on one corner. But that was ok, because when I got it back into the car, you really cant see where the break is.

If I were going to remove another, and i was really having difficulty, and I though it was going to break, then I would pick the spot(in a corner, where it wouldnt be visible after reassembly, but then try to bend, not break). I think that would be better, than to end up with the thing tattered completly.

At any rate, take your time. Try not to be in a hurry.

One other thing worth mentioning: when you glue the material to the board make sure to feed enough material into "hump area" for the back seat so you dont create any tension in that area. I learned this the hard way.

It is worth taking the time to apply the material in small sections. Dont stretch it, you dont want to create any tension on the glue.

Also, at a minimum you should use the 1/8 material for the sunroof. The 1/4 will work, but it will put to much pressure on the sunroof apparatus when you're winding it back and forth. Ask me how I know this? Yeah, experience is the key!

I hope this helps.

good luck

Lawrence
