Overheat and stalling 1800 1970

I too have experience with Volvo's overheating at idle or in slow stop and go traffic. My PV in particular was quite suceptible - it has a B16 nose on it with a small radiator and the dinky small bladed 4 arm fan that sits a few inches back of the radiator with no shroud.

For a temp fix - turn on the heater. If that's not enough turn the fan on too. Also, try revving the engine up for 20 seconds or so as well - the fan will pump enough air at a higher rpm.

I put a big eletric pusher fan on front of the PV's radiator on a thermo switch that cured all low speed overheating problems. It also cured the boilover that would occasionally occur when shut off with the engine hot.
