Hello-
So a friend of mine (female by the way) and I have just been thinking. She thinks that my '88 740GLE is a pretty gutless car (I must agree) and wants to think that her '97 Jetta GL (four banger) can out accelerate my car. I looked up on Edmunds the horsepower for both--I selected a '90 740GLE (assuming there were no specification changes in the engine between the '88 and '90) and it's said to have 153HP, while her Jetta has 115HP. So, theoretically, who would win in acceleration?
It's my understanding that the curb wait of my Volvo is a few hundred pounds more than the Jetta, but wouldn't the added horsepower compensate? Next, does mileage make a big difference? My car has 14x,xxx miles on it--how much horsepower do you think I have in reality, right now?
Anyway, thanks for the help!
