certainly don't mean to SCARE anyone, if I did, I would post a pic of my exwife..
the good news is that a 240 is a car that we can still work on ourselves, it is relatively easy, inexpensive and at least we know that the "mechanic" did not break something else that we don't know about. Besides, the CE light is not the end of the world. If the car is not overheating, the CE light is only telling us that something is not quite right. Go to the FAQs and learn to run the OBD and perhaps it will tell you EXACTLY what is wrong, and maybe it is the knock sensor.
BTW, as far as disconnecting the battery to reset the OBD, it has been my experience that the battery must be disconnected for at least 15 minutes to be SURE that the OBD was truly "reset."
