Help! Power window switch! 200 1989

Okay, so I decided to try to fix the passenger side power window switch since it was only going down and not up on that side. I got everything you guys suggested (flat head screwdriver and clean place to put stuff) and took it out to the car. I examined the passenger side window switch to figure out how to take the thing apart. I pried on a few things to try to see which piece gave way easily, and therefore which one was supposed to be taken out. The entire switch piece (big plastic piece with switch in the middle) didn't seem to move easily, so I tried the plastic rocker switch itself. With a little work, it did indeed come out.

So, I now had a hole through which I could see all of the things you described: two parallel copper contacts shaped like seesaws, each holding a small metal ball in the crook of the metal. The switch itself had two tubes that ran down and presumably rested on the balls. I messed around with the things to make sure contact was good and then tried to put the switch back on and discovered it wouldn't.

Apparently, the plastic switch is not supposed to come right out. I discovered that it actually had a small plastic piece running underneath the two holes on each side, and that I had broken those pieces in the process of taking it out. Oops. Also, I knocked the balls off the seesaws, so I took them out using the slightly magnetized screwdriver and left the seesaws in, at an angle (couldn't get the back right). I left everything like it was and came in here to ask for help.

What part is supposed to be pried out? How do I get this thing completely open? Will the broken plastic pieces on the plastic rocker swwitch mean that this will never work right again?

Again, I tried to get the entire big black plastic rectangle piece out, but it didn't seem to want to go. I guess I was just trying it in the wrong places. Where do I pry on it with the screwdriver?
