Dón Tom!
The other guys are right, it is the compressor's intermittent loading
and consequent vibration on a marginal bracket. When I was in Panama I
built a better one but still had the problem. (I am driving a 1969 164 I
bought in Panama in 1971 - got 281,000 miles on it now.)
I think I'd suggest going to a rotary compressor for several reasons, not the
least of which is that they give better performance. I haven't done this but
when the time and money come together I will. Hopefully someone on the board
will refer you to the guys who make the adaptors and suggest the best brand
of compressor. I think Sanden is one of them.
Feel free to email me if I can give any more help - gdowns@cableone.net
