As far as no air coming out, I would expect there's a vacuum problem.
Make sure the line from the intake manifold to the firewall is in place, and then try to check under the dash for the connections to the white plastic vacuum reservoir.
If he had the climate control module out of the dash and broke any of the hose connections, it could be completely ruined... I hope Mr. Gas Station Guy did not do this to your car...
